What Are Some Wireless Earbuds That Are Good For Heavy Metal?

By Tinh Lee, September 21, 2023

I was really excited when I read about the metal-focused wireless earbuds, referred from a thread but when I did a search not many reviews mentioning about this kind of earbuds. However there are a few tips how to choose wireless earbuds for metal music, one of which is avoiding bass boosted earbuds because they tend to sacrifice the clarity of snare and cymbals.

Another tips is understading your music. Metal is considered a busy and fast-paced music, and it requires earbuds that are able to catch up with the rhythm at certain frequency range (it's not about it sounds 'fast enough' or technically how quickly earbuds respond to an audio signal), in other words, they give significant output at certain frequency range (2 - 3 kHz).

It aslo depends on your preference and the metal music which varies greatly across decades. You may like more bass, or treble and at different volume levels they weigh differently. You may have to trade off a bit of bass for soundstage, or vice versa. Some are matched to your taste in soundstage and details but they have a lot of punchy and metal bass.

You may wonder if there are a selection of earbuds that are perfect for the various genres of metal out there. They have deep bass extension, good separation, greate clarity and a wider soundstage. Here are our top recommendations:

How we picked?
Volume level
App + EQ
Earbuds with app EQ could do the trick to enhance the heavy metal track you listen to.
Single driver vs. Hybrid
Hybrids (DD + BA) covers wider range, and sound more airy, but if they aren't configured right, it may not be coherent between ranges. Thi in turn doesn't not relsove the metal track well especially tracks with complex elements. Single dynamic drivers are better for metal. There is a posibility that you can get dynamic driver wireless earbuds which not only render bass, drums and guitar correctly but retains the highly dynamic nature of a well-tuned DD.

The budget QCY T5 are worth consideration if you are new to TWS and want to experience how your favorite metal tracks sound on wireless earbuds. Despite being quite short in battery, the QCY T5 are able to rock any metal tracks.

Bottom Line
Though the battery is quite short and earbuds have cheap build quality, the long-stem QCY T5 sound surprisingly good for the price once they fit properly in your ears. Guess how much do you have to pay for a pair, less than $40.

Final thoughts

Other I could recommend like Boltune BT-BH001 (wired Bluetooth earbuds) Google Pixel Buds A-Series, Jabra Elite 85t and Bose Sport Earbuds, but I haven't tested them yet. I will update shortly if I have a chance to hand on them.
